As a relatively new mom of 2 young kids, I’m always on the lookout for educational stuff to do for them (especially our eldest who is in her curious stage who is 1 year and 4 months now). We’re usually at home especially now that we have a newborn. While at home, our little girl learned how to play with the same toys everyday in different or creative ways and ready the same books until she memorizes her books and starts to show that she is starting to have her favorites. Now what else to do for her without bringer her too much in malls?
Playworks is a place I always see when we frequent Salcedo Park (Jaime Velasquez Park) in Makati and finally our little girl visited twice already here and she loves the place! For our little girl’s age, we like the concept of educational play instead of just all slides, ball swims, swings, and seesaws. Anyway, the time will come when she’s a little bigger that she will get to enjoy those stuff more.
What is Playworks?
Its is a playschool, preschool, and daycare for 3 months up to 5 years old. They have after school classes to help children continue their learning after their regular school. They’re open from Mondays to Fridays from 7:30am to 6:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Playworks is focused in the following learning areas:
- Physical development
- Social and emotional development
- Language and literacy
- Discovery of the World
- The Arts
What do they offer?
Eveyrthing they offer here are play-based and are progressive programs. The curriculum is focused on responding to children’s interests to create meaningful learning experiences.
They have a day care program wherein the children, when left at Playworks, will not just be playing on her own but will be supervised by their teachers and will be doing educational activities like art, music and movement, learning games, worksheets, and story time.
Playworks also offers free play for those who just want to let your kids play for an hour, two, or more 🙂 There’s a lot of toys for small toddlers that they can play around with like a pretend market, bedroom, kitchen, salon, and they can dress up and play with a lot of costumes there. Our little girl Chesca enjoys playing here! Here’s a few snaps. Trust me there’s a lot more 😉
They also have classes for young toddlers either 2, 3, or 5 times a week. More about this on a separate post soon.
Just email or send a message in their Facebook page to get their updated rates.
Playworks is really more than a preschool or play school. They also offer special classes, workshops, seminars, and do collaborations for moms, parents, nannies, and the children like Red Cross Training for infants and children, Pop Ups of our famous shops, yoga for kids, music and movement classes, and many more. They also have outdoor classrooms sometimes in different locations at different dates to extend the learning powered by play experience outside the classroom.
Here’s the July 2016 schedule of events coming up.

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” Fred Rogers
