Here’s something you can do if you want to document some memories as a couple or a family.
I have a knack for documenting memories with friends and family- I keep all notes and letters, have pictures printed and placed in albums and photo books. For the past years, I have also been listing all the restaurants, homes, and other places where we’ve eaten as a couple. I include even food booths in the malls 🙂 I call it our Dine Out List. We’re not so much foodies ourselves but since we don’t go out of the country until we got married, we have the city to explore and make a lot of memories.
My husband and I have been together for almost 14 years now (nearly half of my life!) and imagine how long this list is already. But I stopped listing when we got married due to the busy schedules in work and over priorities as a wife and mom.
As I read the document now, I realized how it can be fun to read it and it can also be used as reference since I also put in one column what we liked most in a particular place or a significant event that happened in that place. It bring back so much memories and give that happy feeling.
The document which is in MS Excel file needs updating badly and needs aesthetic revamp- beautification. It looks very formal, directory type, and corporate now to me.
You can actually add pictures to it, food reviews, or even add some other relevant details you want. You can have it in different format or have it printed or maybe a scrapbook. Let your creativity flow and enjoy the memories. It’s also fun to do it as you recall all the events too.
You can start it now or if you want to backtrack on everything you can also but it’s a bit tedious and chances are you might forget some stuff.
I will be keeping this memory document alive and updated. It will be fun for our kids to see it too and as we grow old, we see how much we’ve visited and ate 😉 I’ll share them too after I do some fixing and updating.
Some find this too cheesy or there’s just too much effort needed. I say not really. If you enjoy and love what you are doing, you barely notice the effort and the cheesiness of it all ! When you have kids, it’s still important to give special care and time for your partner 🙂
Have a great weekend! 🙂
