Honeymooners in Thailand

2 days after our wedding day, we flew to Thailand for our 5-day honeymoon (June 2012). It was my first time there while my husband’s maybe 5th or 6th time there because of work. But this time we’re there for vacation and tours.

This may not be the most romantic place for honeymoon, but we’d like new adventures in a not so far away country. We plan not to touch the gift money we received as wedding gifts so we went to a country that’s new, relatively cheaper than if we went to countries outside Asia. Thailand is a great country with cultural similarities with the Philippines and with people looking like Pinoys too!

We had a blast and we’d like to share some highlights of our trip:

Thank you for a thoughtful and helpful wedding gift from our dear friend. She gave tips on transportation, where to shop, where to eat, where to stay, and about the tours that are nice to take.

We had  comfortable PAL (Philippine Airlines) business class seats going to and from Thailand.

In flight entertainment and food

We had a very smooth and comfortable flight going to to Thailand. The flight attendants were friendly and very efficient. Loved the inflight entertainment and the food too.

When we arrived in Thailand, we took a cab to our hotel. The cab we took was very spacious and the roads were just like in the Philippines except that cars are left-hand drive.

We arrived at our hotel in Siam Square, Novotel, and we received welcome drinks. We were welcomed with happy honeymoon treat in our room. Buildings, malls, roads, and flyover are stuff we see from our hotel room which tells us we’re in the heart of the city. Our hotel’s location was perfect. When traffic became bad, which is everyday in Bangkok, we can walk to the train station and the around surrounding malls.

We got a private tour guide who was recommended by a friend when we visited several temples. She explained briefly histories of each temple and the artifacts we found there and we got to ride the tuktuk- their version of our Philippine tricycle.

We also had a chance to experience evening dinner river cruise. It was memorable and romantic. We had a glimpse of the surrounding structures and historical background. We saw lots of huge palaces where their royalties once lived.

We also visited Madame Tussaud’s wax museum. It was so fun to pose with the different personalities who looked so real! Here’s a few.

We visited so many malls, art exhibits, and any mall we see when we take a stroll and explore everyday. We made the most out of our trip. Of course, I was able to shop fashionable clothes at reasonable prices and good quality. You just also have to be picky and sort the good ones. Be a smart shopper always and try to request for a discount always, who knows they might just give you a good one.

A trip to Thailand will not be complete without the good food they have. Although we didn’t get chance to taste exotic street foods and get an authentic Thai massage, we were happy with all the food we ate. Wasn’t able to take pictures of all the food we ate, but here’s a few.

It was a memorable first trip as husband and wife. We had a great time exploring Bangkok Thailand. We were able to relax too.

Honeymoon is not just about traveling somewhere after the wedding but a stage where husbands and wives spend quality time with each other. We are very thankful and blessed to have an opportunity to go out of the country and enjoy the fruits of our handwork and patience.

We will back here and try new things in time. I must say Bangkok Thailand is not a very baby-friendly city in my observation. It’s just similar to Metro Manila. But we see more disciplined citizens in Thailand especially the drivers who are caught in the very heavy traffic in the city everyday. Traffic is even worse in Metro Manila but we don’t here too much horns blowing out of impatience.

I’d recommend this country and city for those who are in search for cheap bargains and if you’re looking for branded stuff, they have those too in their malls. Weather is very much similar to the Philippines but usually rains in the afternoon (always bring portable umbrellas).

Hope to see you again Bangkok! Hope you enjoyed some of our moments in Thailand.
